FUNAYA

Immerse Yourself in the Wellspring

Take the plunge into the serene and sacred Japanese communal bathing ritual that is Onsen. Onsen has evolved from an ancient Shinto celebration of the blessings of nature and is still considered to be one of the most beautiful of all bathing rituals. Funaya  evokes our Japanese influenced range perfectly as it is one of the oldest and most famous ryokans in Japan, laying claim to Japan’s only Yushinden –  a bathing room used exclusively by the Imperial family. It is said that the Japanese emperors have been visiting Funaya for almost 1500 years, along with warriors, poets and heads of state.

TARABYA

Your Time To Shine

The healing properties of the thermal hot springs of Therapia were discovered in the 5th century by Patriach Attikos.  Long before that, ancient Greek legend tells of ravishing enchantress Medea, who falls instantly in love with Tarabya after helping Jason and the Argonauts steal the Golden Fleece from her father. Overwhelmed by its beauty, she throws her potions and spells into the Bosphorus.

Destroyed by an earthquake in the 14th century, it later became Tarabiye, or ‘Pleasure’, the summer palace of noted sybarite Sultan Selim 2. Tucked away on the Bosphorus River’s European bank, Tarabya remains a sanctuary at the crossroads of east and west.

We celebrate Tarabya, timeless avatar of beauty and indulgence, highest expression of the ancient rituals of hammam. Discover luxury as therapy. Sojourn where spirits swirl in the steam and whisper of legends; sultans and seraglios, odalisques and Ottomans, gem-studded palaces and vast marbled domes and spires.
